A small restaurant of traditional cuisine located in Calle Cañón, just behind Malaga Cathedral, which has been run for more than 30 years by Emilia or Emi, its charming owner and the soul of the place, while Pilar is in charge of the kitchen.

Mesón Rincón Catedral has become, in its own right, a temple of traditional Malaga cuisine, but above all, of an essential dish of our gastronomy, such as gazpachuelo, which is prepared here with special skill, we could say that it is tailor-made for each customer. And there are many locals and tourists who come every day to try this dish from Malaga.

Rincón Catedral’s gazpachuelo includes potatoes cut into small pieces, rice, fish, such as rosada, and clams and prawns from the bay of Málaga, whenever possible, and always ingredients chosen for their quality. But what makes the difference is the care with which they prepare the tasty mayonnaise and how they integrate it into the dish so that it is just right for the customer, who always tries to adapt to the tastes of the diner.

As well as gazpachuelo, which as we have seen is their star dish, at Rincón Catedral they specialise in stews and spoon dishes such as beans with oxtail, cuttlefish in almond sauce or whatever they have cooked as the dish of the day.

They also make excellent oxtail, entrecote, lamb chops and fresh ‘pescaíto’ from the bay, which they usually choose from the Atarazanas Market, are ideal options to complete a great meal, full of authenticity and Malaga flavours.

The desserts are classics, such as the tocinillo de cielo, the wine list is not extensive, but includes wines from Malaga. As for the treatment, with Emi at the front, cordial, friendly and familiar… We can say that this is another of the attractions of this Mesón that contains the essence of the traditional gastronomy of Malaga.
