Mesón Mariano is one of the most traditional and historic taverns in Malaga, since it was founded in 1988 by Mariano Martín Navas, a professional with more than 50 years of experience and love for the hotel and catering business, which has earned him the Antonio Espinosa Award for a Lifetime Dedication to Tourism and Gastronomy. Currently, his daughter Laura follows in the family footsteps and works at the Mesón.

 

In his menu, the artichoke is ‘the queen of the house’, as he himself proclaims, and he prepares them in a thousand ways: grilled, battered, fried, with ham, in stews… He also prepares dishes from the Malaga recipe book such as gazpachuelo, ajoblanco or gazpacho. Fish, baked or fried, is also prepared as tradition dictates, impeccably, but we must not forget its meats and roasts, another of its specialities, such as the excellent suckling goat which, of course, is from Malaga.
